Description

The Philadelphia Museum of Art was originally established in 1876 to host the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia.

The main museum building was built on Fairmount in 1928.

It is located on the northeast end of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway at Eakins Oval.

The museum manages collections that contain over 240,000 objects, including significant holdings of European and American origin.

There are many types of artwork, including sculpture, paintings and prints, drawings, photographs and armor.
