The 12-acre site, which is formally landscaped, is part of the National Capital Parks Unit (National Park System) and is managed by Rock Creek Park’s superintendent.

Meridian Hill Park lies 1.5 miles north of the White House on a prominent hill.

It is bordered with 15th, 16th and W streets NW.

Many call the park Malcolm X Park after the activist and minister Malcolm X.
