The Library of Congress (LC), the national library of the United States, is the official research library serving the United States Congress.
It is the oldest federal cultural institution of the United States.
The library is located in three buildings on Capitol Hill, Washington, DC.
It also has a conservation center in Culpeper, Virginia.
The Librarian of Congress oversees the library’s functions, while the Architect of the Capitol maintains its buildings.
The Library of Congress is the largest library in the world.
Its collections are not restricted by subject, format or national boundaries and include research materials in all parts of the globe and in more than 350 languages.
