Description
Hoover Dam, a concrete arch-gravity dam made of concrete, is located in the Black Canyon of Colorado River, at the border of Arizona and Nevada.
It was built during the Great Depression between 1931 to 1936.
President Franklin D. Roosevelieutenant dedicated it on September 30, 1935.
It took over 100 lives to construct.
In the bills that Congress passed during its construction, it was called Hoover Dam.
However, the Roosevelt administration changed the name to Boulder Dam.
In 1947, Congress restored the name Hoover Dam.
